Pilgrimage to Chartres 2015!

The Irish Chapter has returned safely from the 33rd Pilgrimage to Chartres.

Our pilgrimage began with Mass in the Irish College on Friday evening where we were joined by members of the Our Lady of Walsingham Chapter, including Fr. Gerard Byrne and Fr Martin Edwards.

On our three-day procession to Chartres we had 32 pilgrims in our Chapter, and were once more joined by the Russian Chapter. We were blessed with great 'walking weather', not too hot and only one morning of rain.

For the duration of the pilgrimage we were joined by Dom Finian and Dom Elijah from Silverstream Priory  in Co. Meath. Fr Gerard Byrne of our Our Lady of Walsingham Chapter joined us on Pentecost Sunday and we also had visits from seminarians and priests from America, France and Lichtenstein.

The Theme of the 2015 Pilgrimage will be: Jesus Christ Saviour of the World

During the course of the three days we will meditate on the Incarnation, Redemption, and Resurrection

On Saturday 23.5.2015 the pilgrimage will be under the patronage of St. Hilary of Poitiers, the 4th Century Doctor of the Church
On Pentecost Sunday, 24.05.2015, our patron will be St. Louis IX (1214-1270), the model for Christian leadership
On Monday 25.05.2015 our patron will be St. Mary Magdalene

During the course of the pilgrimage meditations will be read aloud based on the theme of the pilgrimage or the lives of the three patron Saints. A full list of meditations will be circulated to pilgrims prior to the pilgrimage, and pilgrims are asked to assist with composing the meditations,

St. Hilary, St. Louis, St. Mary - pray for us!
